VEECAIN GEL

This composition contains Dried aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and Oxethazaine which are used in combination to provide relief from the indigestion, heart burns. They neutralize the excess of acid in the stomach by maintaining the balance between aggressive and defensive mechanisms.

Oxethazaine belongs to surface analgesic and local anaesthetic. It provides relief from dysphagia and in chronic gastritis or duodenal ulcers. They increase the gastric acid but provide relief from the pain by causing reversible loss of sensation.

Dried Aluminium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound and is used as antacid to neutralize the excess of hydrochloric acid secretions. they also lead to increase in prostaglandins and bicarbonate ions.

Magnesium hydroxide is used as both antacid and laxative in many formulations and is counted as inorganic salt.

Mechanism of action-

Oxethazaine supress the gastric acid secretion by blocking the gastrin, also, it penetrates the cell membrane and causes the permeability of sodium ions into the membrane thus blocks the nerve transmission and nerve conduction.
Dried aluminium hydroxide solubilizes in the stomach and there its converts into ammonium chloride and water and inhibits increased concentration of pepsin by increasing pH.
Magnesium hydroxide works by neutralizing the acid by releasing its hydrogen ion which may combine with hcl in the parietal cells and forms magnesium chloride and water.
